Does Prayer Change God’s Mind?

Can we change God’s mind with prayer? Now the first question we have to ask and this is, can we actually change God’s mind, period? Let us first address that because there are two passages of Scripture that people try to use to say that God changes His mind. One is Genesis 6:6 this is where “the Lord regretted that he made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart”. That sounds like he has regret, and a change of heart and wishes he did otherwise. But the stronger one that many will turn to is Jonah 3:10, “when God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he said he would do to them, And he did not do it.”  So people will say with Jonah, that because of the action of the people because of their prayer, that caused God to change his mind. Now, one does God changed his mind? Well, no, because He is omniscient. He knows everything outside of time. Do the prayers affect the outcome? Well, depends on how you look at it. To you and I, the answer would be yes, but not to God. Remember, He is outside of time. Therefore, when He relented, He already knew they would pray and therefore their repenting was part of His plan. When He chose to relent, He already knew they were going to pray
