What is sin in Jehovah Witnesses?

February 19, 2018

JW’s believe that Adam’s sin in the garden caused death and the condemnation is past on to all of his offspring.  They would hold to a view of the original sin that is imputed to all people.  JW’s teach that all men have a sin nature.

By the disobedience of Adam sin became active and he was sentenced to death, and condemnation resulted to all his offspring.  Hence all were born sinners.  (Life, 1929, p.194)

It is important to note in discussing the JW’s view on the eternal state that they do not believe that man has an immoral soul.  They believe that man is a soul not has a soul.

Gen. 2:7: “Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.  (Notice that this does not say that man was given a soul but that hebecame a soul, a living person.)  (emphasis original) (Reasoning from the Scriptures, 1985, p.375)JW’s believe that Adam’s sin in the garden caused death and the condemnation is past on to all of his offspring.  They would hold to a view of the original sin that is imputed to all people.  JW’s teach that all men have a sin nature.
